Mackenzie sat in her hotel suite at the Ramada Plaza Hotel as her hair and make-up were carefully done. As she sat in her wingback chair, the make-up artist started asking her questions about Gord, her soon-to-be husband. In just speaking his name, and sharing more of their love story, Mackenzie teared up. At that moment, it was clear to everyone in the room just how deep her love for Gord runs. I think the most commonly spoken word that morning was “No!”, to stop anyone near tears. Though it didn’t always work.

Mackenzie opted to have a first look with her father, Max, and it was absolutely beautiful to witness. Her father waited patiently in the hall while she stepped into her stunning lace and chiffon Stella York wedding gown. Mackenzie’s mother helped her as the dress was zipped and final adjustments were made. Everyone waited patiently for what came next. Mackenzie’s father stepped into the suite from the hallway. His eyes lit up and immediately welled up with tears at the sight of his daughter’s radiance. They embraced tightly, not saying a word, as tears streamed down their faces.

The wedding was beautiful, and we had so much fun with the bridal party. But my favourite part of the day was our time alone with Gord & Mackenzie. When the bridal party left, the pace slowed down just a bit. As Gord & Mackenzie held each other, we pointed out that this was the first time they were alone since becoming man & wife. As that realization hit them, Cam & I backed up, and just allowed them time to rest into this thought. We sat back and captured the magic that ensued.

Gord & Mackenzie, thank you for allowing Courtney Liske Photography the honour of celebrating your wedding day with you and your loved ones. You are both some of the sweetest people we have had the pleasure of knowing. Sometimes we ask the bridal party to do an impression of the bride or groom, which usually results in some big laughs. I love that even the impression of Gord was entirely based on how happy, helpful, and sweet a person he is! Mackenzie, you got yourself a really good one! Cam & I hope you had the BEST time on your cross-country road trip, and can’t wait to hear about it!

xoxo

Courtney & Cam
